Memorial Day Staycation in Downtown Brooklyn
Memorial Day Weekend is almost upon us, and while it’s the unofficial start of summer, it’s also an important day to honor our armed forces. A great way to do so is to appreciate all that you have and to make the most out of the day. When you combine the two what do you get? BBQs, parades, parties, and bars. No need to stray too far from Hub- we have your Memorial Day Weekend staycation plans right here.
BBQ in the Park
Organizing a BBQ party in the park is a perfect plan for Memorial Day Weekend. Fort Greene Park is a beautiful destination to host your BBQ. While the pit master needs to be aware of responsible grilling etiquette, everyone else can just push their stresses away and enjoy the day! Besides the grilling necessities, make sure to go prepared with a great playlist, speakers, and games like cornhole or KanJam, or even board games. Where’s our all-time favorite grilling spot you ask? The cabanas at Hub– you can’t beat a great space for grilling and that beautiful great lawn to picnic on! Let the good times roll with some burgers and hot dogs.
Even though each borough has their own parade, we all know that Brooklyn’s Memorial Day Parade is bound to be the most fun. The parade starts on 3rd Avenue and 78th Street in Bayridge and ends at Cannonball Park on 4th Avenue and 101st Street. Hop on the subway from the Barclays Center to the 95th street station, and watch the marchers enter the park for the memorial service. Going to the parade is a great way to meet new people, bond with your neighbors and soak up the sunshine.
We know Brooklyn has a diverse selection of awesome bars, and you’ll find many of them are hosting Memorial Day Weekend parties. Kimoto Rooftop Restaurant & Garden Lounge is hosting ‘Brunch’n Brooklyn’ from 12-5 on Saturday, May 26th, along with an after party! Spend the day at the rooftop bar brunch’n, boozing & dancing to music from DJ Authorize. Another venue we love is our very own Club 333 Lounge, which is hosting a Luau Pool Party on Saturday, May 26th. Join your neighbors by the pool for music, food, dancing and a water balloon fight! Start practicing—there’s also a hula hoop contest.
A crazy idea – combine the three! Check out the parade route before heading to the park for a bbq and then come back to Club 333 to celebrate with your friends in the building!
