Memorial Day with The Hub in Brooklyn, NY
Every year The Hub is proud to celebrate Memorial Day. Always observed on the last Monday of May; May 27th, 2024; this United States federal holiday is dedicated to honoring and mourning the U.S. military persons who lost their lives in the Armed Forces.
While we honor Memorial Day, the 3-day weekend also marks the unofficial start of summer. Many people take the opportunity to celebrate and relax with parades, beach visits, and barbeques.
Kick off your summer plans and celebrate Memorial Day with exciting local celebrations. These Memorial Day events take off at 10 am at the Memorial Day Roller Skate event. Come roller skate outside on the beautiful Pier 2 in Brooklyn, overlooking The Brooklyn Bridge!
At 11 am join us for the Brooklyn Memorial Day Parade. Starting on 3rd Ave. & 78th Street, and down 3rd Ave. to Marine Ave. up to 4th Ave., and over to John Paul Jones Park. Including Bag Pipes, Flag Raising, Wreath Laying by Veteran Service Organizations, a 21-gun Salute by the Veteran Corps of Artillery, and the playing of Taps. Then, starting at 1:30 pm, enjoy an outdoor Memorial Day Concert in Green-Wood Cemetery. (And it’s free!)
