Saint Julivert Fisherie is a buzzy new place opened by the team behind the acclaimed eatery, La Vara. Esteemed neighborhood restaurateurs Alex Raij and Eder Montero step outside of their Spanish food comfort zone to open this cozy seafood restaurant. Saint Julivert is inspired by seaside cuisines and famous ports, near and far. Their drink menu explores the exceptional island and coastal wine-making with a small but intentional cocktail list that showcases refreshing flavors and easy drinking. With a strong sleek interior, focus on seafood and interesting mix of flavors, Saint Julivert Fisherie is a must try in the neighborhood.
Vegans (and non-vegans) rejoice! There is a new vegan restaurant in the neighborhood. SANS is a vegan restaurant from a former chef who worked at Eleven Madison Park. SANS hopes to become a neighborhood spot for both vegan and non-vegan diners alike. The restaurant is setting out to be a one-year project, so the chef and owner can strive to test drive the menu specializing in dishes using ingredients only derived from plants. Try out this residency of sorts and experience their tasting menu and be inspired by the meatless options. Though ideal for vegans, SANS hopes to introduce carnivores to something new and delicious as well.
After local restaurateurs Harris Salat and chef Rick Horiike visited Mexico City, they couldn’t get the flavors out of their heads. Taqueria, their new Mexican restaurant pulls from their trip and has recently opened at 25 Bond Street. Taqueria intends to “cook faithful versions of these classic tacos.” Menu options include an al pastor, pollo asado, and two vegetarian options. Be transported to Mexico City with a taste at Taqueria.
LES favorite, Mission Chinese has just made it’s way to Brooklyn! This Sichuan inspired hot spot from chef-owner Danny Bowien recently opened in Bushwick. The Brooklyn Mission Chinese will expand on the Sichuan inspiration and include some Northern Chinese influence, as well as offer some options that aren’t SO spicy. If you like the spice Mission Chinese is known for, you will still get your fix. Also new to this Mission Chinese is bread service. Definitely a place worth trying!
Winter is coming, but it doesn’t mean you have to say goodbye to warm weather favorite, Smorgasburg. The crowd-pleasing Smorgasburg will take over a massive weekend space in Fort Greene. It is also teaming up with Vice Media for a special Friday night market in November & December. For the weekend market in the Atlantic Center mall be prepared for about 25 of your favorite vendors.
